Masbate Province hits by magnitude 5.2 Earthquake

On the news, 8 people mostly children were reported injured after a 5.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Masbate city early Tuesday morning March 6, 2012.

According to reports, the quake was felt at intensity 6 in Masbate, intensity 4 in Irosin, Cabid-an and Sorsogon City, and intensity 2 in Legazpi, the quake struck parts of the Bicol region at 7:06 a.m. on Tuesday, The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs)  reported.

The quake was followed by a magnitude-3.5 aftershock at 7:13 a.m., seven minutes after the quake, Phivolcs said. The aftershock which was traced to 6 km northwest of Masbate City was felt at intensity 5 in Masbate City and intensity 2 in Roxas City.
The earthquake has a depth of 23km and was felt at the following intensities in the following areas, Intensity VI - Masbate City; Intensity IV - Irosin, Sorsogon; Cabid-an, Sorsogon City; Roxas City;

Intensity III - Sigma, Capiz; Catarman and Capul Island, Northern Samar; Almagro and Tagapul-an, Western Samar; Intensity II - Iloilo City; Legaspi City; and Intensity I- Kalibo and Numancia, Aklan.

  9. pag ang LINDOL ang tumama... parang katapusan na ng mundo. wala kang pwedeng puntahan... wala kng pwedeng gawin kundi MAGDASAL. and this what worries me a lot especially when it strikes during weekdays and my children are out of my reach because they are in school and my hubby is in the office... FAITH is the answer.

  14. News are alarming. kabi kabilang patayan, nakawan tapos earthquake. :( Minsan nakakasawa na manood/makinig/magbasa ng news kasi halos puro ganyan nalang ang binabalita. waaa!
